General information on NATSEQ

Is the kayak suitable for salt water?

Your Boat is designed for use in salt water. All components are seawater resistant. For proper functioning of all components, simply rinse the boat, especially the tensioning mechanism and all moving parts, thoroughly with fresh water after each use and allow to dry.

Does the boat sink when you capsize?

Since the individual modules are self-contained, the bow and stern form watertight buoyancy bodies. The boat therefore always remains on the water surface. This was confirmed by means of tests by an official expert.

I have heard that the kayak is not suitable for trips on the sea. But on many videos you see people paddling on the sea. Which is correct?

According to the official certificate, the NATSEQ is approved for navigation area D and may therefore be used in the protected coastal area. can be used without restrictions. As long as you follow the usual safety tips (life jacket, bilge pump, spraydeck if necessary, rowing equipment), you will also have a lot of fun with the NATSEQ on the sea.

Can you also sail the boat in larger waves?

You can use the boat like a fixed hull kayak without hesitation. Before setting off on a tour, all screws should be briefly checked for tightness and the tensioning mechanism should be carefully closed.

With large waves, the modules move and a gap becomes visible - should I be worried?

Since PE is a comparatively elastic material, it is normal that it works a little under mechanical stress. Since the force is applied horizontally, i.e. from top to bottom, but gaps can only occur in the vertical, i.e. longitudinal direction, the modules cannot spring apart, even if you forget to close the tensioning hook.

Where are your kayaks produced?

The kayaks are manufactured in our factory in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. 99% of all components and materials come from the EU.

Are there other colours than red, green and blue?

Generally not. However, we might launch a special edition in the near future. If you are interested, then follow us on our channels.

Technical questions

Hello, other manufacturers (especially those that differentiate between low volume and high volume models) give weight ranges for their kayaks within which the paddler should fall for the boat to have the best possible water holding and performance. What paddler weights would you recommend the Natseq single for (e.g. 50-80 kg, or 70-100 kg, etc....)?

The NATSEQ is an all-rounder with high volume, the load capacity of the single is 160kg. Due to the strong buoyancy, we recommend having at least 60kg on board. If the paddler is considerably lighter, you should add some weight to the bow and stern if you are not yet that experienced. Otherwise this is not a problem, as we have developed a kayak with the smallest wetted area in this boat size, which can be manoeuvred very well even with light weights.

How do I use a kayak trolley?

Have a look at the manual on page DE-12 or at our YouTube channel. There we show you how to use the kayak trolley correctly.

Can I still adjust the footrests when the rudder system is mounted?

Adjusting the position of the pedal is possible at any time and has no influence on the tension in the steering lines due to the innovative deflection system on the pedal.

Lowering and retrieving the control blade is done by pulling the ball handle of the retrieval line.

Why do gaps sometimes appear between the modules when the boat is assembled on the ground?

Since the PE is is a comparatively elastic material, it is normal that it works a little when subjected to mechanical stress. The gap at the stern therefore occurs because, due to its hull shape typical of kayaks, it does not rest completely on the ground and thus pulls a little. As soon as the boat is in the water, the gap disappears. Then tighten all the tensioning hooks again to the stop.

How heavy is the heaviest module?

The tandem cockpit weighs 15.3kg.

I've heard the durability of modular kayaks is not as good compared to a one-piece PE boat. It might break faster.

Quite the opposite - we use a special HDPE with a UV factor of 10, while many PE boats only have a UV factor of 5. The high material quality as well as a material thickness that includes large safety reserves ensure that our kayaks last even longer.

Which control system fits on the NATSEQ?

Use the originalNATSEQ rudder system. This is available as a complete set and is very easy to assemble. The instructions are enclosed.

Do I need a steering gear at all? Why is a steering gear strongly recommended for the PACKER?

A steering system offers additional safety. Especially when using the NATSEQ with the PACKER or as a tandem, the steering system should always be present as soon as a crosswind is to be expected.

I would like to buy only a Solo and the tandem cockpit later. There are Match ID stickers on the modules, do they mean that the cockpit will not fit if I buy it later?

The Match-ID stickers are used for double final inspection at the factory when the boats are packed and help the dealer to find the matching modules more quickly if he has ordered several kayaks. Basically, however, all parts fit together. So a later purchase is absolutely safe.

Kayak care

Sometimes the kayak is really hard to put together or take apart. Do you have any tips?

When assembling, always make sure the surface is as level as possible or put the modules together directly in the water. For easier disassembly, if necessary, lift the upper module slightly and Inferior object (e.g. found wood or paddle shaft).

Your neoprene covers on the hatches are really fiddly. Is there a trick?

Use both hands, guide the tensioning rubber evenly from front to back and use both grip tabs at the same time to close the cover. That's it.

How should I take care of my kayak? Do I need to oil the tensioning mechanism?

Rinse all mechanical parts with clean water to wash out salt, sand and dirt, wipe the boat dry with a sponge, if necessary wipe with a damp cloth without chemical detergents. Allow to dry, done. Do not oil the mechanism or anything similar, it is made entirely of stainless components. Oil would accumulate dirt and sand.
